Inspiration comes in many forms

photo: Jay Electronica

Every now and then someone or something really special comes along. Jay Electronica is that guy. If you want proof, check out his Act 1: 'Eternal Sunshine', for which he looped music from the Michel Gondry film. The way he flows over the track is like Lupe Fiasco meets Skateboard P meets 3000 with a voice reminiscent of MF Doom. You'll have to sit through Erykah Badu and Just Blaze describe their relationship with him first though. Even if all these names don't mean anything to you, check it out, I promise you will not regret it as the music is some hypnotic. They say 'try something new every day', well, if you've never heard Jay Electronica before: this should be your new thing for the day. Bye.

I met Giles last Saturday, while assisting Helena on a job for Theater De Krakeling. We worked with a total of 10 kids and it was a lot of fun, dressing them up. It took some of the kids a while to open up but they all proved to be super cool.

I'll post some more of the pictures from the shoot when the campaign starts.

Sinterklaas = dead

Extra extra, read all about it! I know who got him. It was Blaxtar and Winne, aided by Djef and Ilja M. Someone call the Kops! Here's the evidence. Start snitching!

Disclaimer: Lee Stuart does not actually endorse snitching.

See the music

Picture Duotone Photography ©

The video for 'Me Nikes' premieres tomorrow, I can't wait to see it on TV. I mean, computerscreens just don't have that allure good ol' fashion TV has. Remember when MTV was good? Like, really good? When they played good music and the presenters were actual personalities? Carolyn Lilipaly, Davina, Ray Cokes had me glued to the tube, ever with the feeling something big was about to happen. It's all realityshows now but nothing feels real. Aaah before I turn sour, let's reminisce for a second:

Longtime wish fulfilled

Crazy, that feeling when you see one of your longtime wishes fulfilled. It's kind of, well, fulfilling and at the same time it can leave you feeling empty. I mean, what more could you want from life after you've gotten to swim in 500 liters of icy cold yogurt and Daniel J Ashes photograph you doing it?

I'm late, I know. Went to 'Kung Fu Hossel' last Thursday. What immediately stood out about the show was the costumes. They were done by BlazinBell, people I consider real good friends. Salute!

Oh yeah, today is your last chance to see it. Check for tickets.

Good peoples

Last Friday (before it turned black) I was at work and in walk a guy and a girl. We bullshitted for a while, they got with some new gear and directions. I got good vibes and a picture. Thank you and come again.

A couple of related links to check out: The sweater is Shobo. He bought it at the Ontour shop. Check out their blog while you're at it. It's an interesting read, as is The Little League's.

Black Friday

No, that title doesn't have anything to do with Clyde's skin color. It's more about last Friday. Went to a nice party where THEY kept the Stolichnaya flowing. Stoli is a guilty pleasure of mine and so everything after that party is a blur. We call that a black Friday. I lost my phone and my camera!

One day..

I was at work and in walks this guy wearing a really cool scarf. I asked him if I could take a picture of him for my blog. Alas, he didn't feel like it. He said it was cool if I wanted to wear it and then he'd take the picture though. So that's what we did. Too bad I didn't get to take a picture of him and his friends. They were nice.

The scarf is by Bulgaria-born Vladimir Karaleev, who's now living in Berlin. Check the website for his his 'Cut 210' collection. The concept for this is really interesting: Karaleev made 20 pieces out of 210 t-shirts. For the first piece he used 1 t-shirt, the second consists out of 2, etc etc. The scarf - I believe - is made out of 8 t-shirts tied together. See for yourself.

Calling it a night.

So I'm home from the videoshoot, ready to call it a night but I just have to share my feeling with you: I'm worried about the video. I mean, how can it ever turn out any good when the director looks like this: I'm kidding, the director does really look like this BUT the video is going to look really nice. We all worked all night. So thanks New kids on the block, 100% Halal, Opposites, Fanny, Dio, Abstract, crew, Flinke Namen, Nike, Nike SB, Cream PR, Ray-Ban, Patta, Stussy, Loreak Mendian, Paul Frank, Blue Blood and Freshjive. If I forgot anyone or anything: Sorry, I've been up for 24+ hours. Goodnight!

I hope they buy me a burger

Since I'm busy with styling for the Opposites' new new new video today, no real update. Just a snapshot of the gear we've collected for this one. You know the boys gotta look fly.

Snappin 'em

So as I mentioned earlier Branko, Dio and I were working on some pressshots. Here's how they turned out.

All pictures -except the first of course- by Branko.

A band of gypsies

Yesterday, while running around the city doing pressshots with photographer Branko and rapper Dio, these two guys struck me when we arrived at Central Station. We stopped and listened to them play for a while. You can find beauty anywhere.

I was worried about Iwan

Anyone that's ever in Amsterdam neighborhood De Pijp knows or knows about Iwan. De Pijp has been his stomping ground for years but about a 18 months ago he suddenly wasn't anywhere to be found. Iwan is back now and apparently he's doing better than ever. Good to have you back, Iwan!
